President Adama Barrow has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing Lots 1&2 OIC 50-kilometre road projects in the urban area.
The Gambian leader was on Sunday, 8th December 2024, out and about to inspect the ongoing Lot 1&2 50km OIC roads project in the Greater Banjul Area.
President Barrow and his entourage began the inspection at P9: Sukuta- Wullingkama-Brufut-Ghana Town which is 8.35km long. He then continued his visit on the following roads: –
P20 Kombo Coastal Road (Zion Welding Workshop)-Wullingkama Car Park – 1.18km
P10 Junctionba- Harman Gmeiner (Amsterdam) – 1.26km;
P2 Kanifing Hospital- Bertil Harding Highway (Methodist)-Estate Road – 1.01km;
P16 Kanifing Hospital- GTMI – 0.75km;
P19 Kairaba Avenue (former IEC) – Banjul/Serrekunda Highway (GTTI) – 1.96km;
P1 GPPC- New Jeshwang (Gacem Junction) – Jokor
Junction – 2.56km; and
P3 GPPC Road-Westfield (Jokor)- Abuko- Abuko Concrete
Road – 2.80km
President Barrow said they were out to inspect some of the roads that they hope to complete by the end of January 2025.
He, however, expressed satisfaction with the level of progress, noting that most of the ongoing road construction is almost completed as they are currently in the finishing stages, such as the construction of sidewalks, street lighting systems, road markings, amongst others.
According to him, overall, they are very happy with what they saw on the inspection, adding that most of the ongoing construction is above 90%.
He went on to thank the Ministry of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure (MOTWI), the National Roads Authority (NRA), and the Consultants and Contractors for the good ongoing works.
