This project is contracted to Gai Construction, and CityScape Associates is the Consultant. It comprises several roads in the URR with a total length of 69km. The 50km EPC Lot 2 road project is along three (3) sections as follows: –
Section 1- which passes through Karantaba – Reneru – Tabanani- Demfaye- Njaga Fitu Fulla, is 26km long;
Section 2- starts from Njau Loop to Carol Warf, 12km; and
Section 3- links Laminkoto- Banni- Youna and Kunting is 12km.
The contractor, Cornerstone, is working on two roads out of the three road sections. The base course processing and prime coat are underway on Karantaba Road, while drainage structures are being constructed on section 3- Laminkoto-Banni-Youna-Kunting Road.
The overall progress of the Lot 2 road project is 63.5% complete.
MD Sanyang is pleased with the progress for the Lot 2 project, noting that there were initial challenges in calibrating the combined bitumen and chip spreader for the surface dressing, but this is now done, and the sealing is going well.
The NRA boss raised concerns about the slow pace of work for Lot 1, as the contractor faced challenges with equipment and manpower to complete critical works before the rainy season.
