NRA MD commences routine road inspection tour in NBR
The Managing Director of the National Roads Authority (NRA), Mr Ousman Sanyang, on Wednesday, 21st May 2025, commenced his routine road inspection tour in the ongoing construction roads in Nuimi Hakalang Loop and Secondary Roads and Banni-Salikeni-Njaba Kunda Road Projects in the North Bank Region (NBR).
Nuimi Hakalang Loop Roads Project
The 84.5km road project, which is divided into three sections, starts from Bunaidu to Kuntair through Chilla Jurunko. It also includes connecting roads from Albreda to Fass Omar Saho and Bangally to Bafuloto in the North Bank Region (NBR).
The project is contracted to CSE, while Pace & GAMECS are the consultants.
The contractor has completed the asphalt in section 1, Bunaidu to Kuntaya, and the surface dressing in section 3, Bangally to Bafuloto.
They are now working on the surface dressing in section 2, from Albreda to Fass Omar Saho.
The overall progress of work is at 90.8%.
Banni-Sallikene-Njaba Kunda Road Project
This road is approximately 17km, and it is contracted to Bajam Construction Company.
The contractor is currently priming, sealing, laying kerbs, and drainage works.
The overall progress is at 82%.
The MD is overall satisfied with the progress of both works. He, however, said there are constraints regarding the regular supply of bitumen to complete the sealing in the last connecting road section of the Hakalang project.
He added that similar issues arise for the Banni-Salikeni project on material supply to the site to complete surfacing, noting that Hakalang is expected to be substantially complete by the end of June 2025, and substantial completion for Banni-Salikeni is forecast after the rains.
