NRA & MOTWI entourage visits Kiang West and EPC Lot 4 roads project
As part of their routine inspection tour, the National Roads Authority (NRA) led by its MD and the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure (MOTWI) led by the Minister on Wednesday 21st January 2026 visited the Kiang West Road Project and the ongoing EPC Lot 4 road projects.
Kiang West Roads Project – Phases 1 & 2.
The 87km road project is contracted to Gai Construction and the Consultant is Cityscape Associates
Phase 1 (39Km).
Consists of one main trunk road of 39km, from Sankandi to Karantaba. The road sealing and markings have been completed. Other road furniture: road signs; guard rails; marker posts; cat eyes on site and their installations are in progress.
Phase 2 (48km)
Initially, phase 2 consisted of four roads but now includes 10 roads with access to over 20 villages/ communities.
General Remarks
Road sealing has been completed for the project. Concrete works for drainage structures are ongoing. The installation of road furniture is progressing for phases 1 & 2. Road making of phase 2 to start next week.

Phase 2 – 95%
EPC LOT 4 Road Project in the WCR
The Lot 4 roads project, is located in the Western Region and constitutes part of the country’s Western transportation link.
The Project consists of the construction of four sections for a total length of approximately 20.7 km.
The Contractor for this project is SOMAGEC, while GAMECS is the Consultant
The project consists of the construction of four (4) roads, approximately 20.7km in total length and all the roads are currently on sealing level.
KALAGI TO BUNDALI) (10.20 KM)
The contractor has already sealed 8km of the road, leaving 2km remaining.
JOREM NEMA KUNDA – JOREM BUNDA KUNDA – (1.45KM).
Following the completion of the sealing work, the contractor is now working on the road signs and markings.
SANGAJOR – DASILAMI – 5.78KM
After successfully completing the priming, the contractor is now focusing on sealing
KANFENDA –MANDINA – 5.10KM
The contractor is currently on priming stage.
Overall work progress is 84.6%.
GIBORO-SOHM 13KM
Following the completion of the removal of the topsoil, the Contractor has completed 2km of base course.
The contractor has completed 4km of subbase works and 6.3km of subgrade.
