As part of the ongoing inspection tour of all project sites countrywide, the National Roads Authority (NRA) and the Ministry of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure (MOTWI) on Saturday visited the ongoing Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Roads Nationwide Design and Build Lot 5, 8 and 9 in the West Coast Region (WCR) respectively.
The first routine inspection visits on Saturday, 10th February 2024, started at Lot 8 in Gunjur, before Lot 9 in Sanyang, and ended in Lot 5 in Farato-Bojang Kunda
The Lot 8 project in Gunjur starts from the Brusubi-Kartong Highway to the Gunjur seaside. It also branches to the Gunjur Sheikh Ahmad Futi Grand Mosque.
The 4.5km road project is contracted to Green Vision International, a Gambian-owned Construction Company, and the consultant and supervisor is the National Roads Authority (NRA).
The project is a concrete payment and drainage facility on both sides. It would be a modern road with streetlights.
Elsewhere, Lot 9 Sanyang (Hawba) Road Project.
This project, which goes to Sanyang seaside, is 4.5km and is contracted to Zen Construction and Trading Company, a Gambian-owned company.
The project is a carriage concrete way, with a sidewalk and drainage facilities, including an Irish crossing.
The project, which is 12 months, now achieved a remarkable 30-35% % progress.
The NRA and the Ministry ended Saturday’s visits to the Lot 5 road project in Farato Bojang Kunda – Bafuloto.
The 4km project is contracted to Bologel Limited, a Gambian construction company and JV CSI, a Chinese construction company, respectively, while the National Roads Authority (NRA) is the supervisor
The project is a double surface dressing road with two lanes of carriage, paved shoulders, sidewalks, and parking spaces, including streetlights and drainage facilities.
The Farato Bojang Kunda – Bafuloto road project, which was set for 28 months for its completion, has now achieved 17% of progress.
Hon. Ebrima Sillah, minister of Transports, Works, and Infrastructure, expressed delight at the level of progression to all the EPC road projects he visited in Gunjur, Sanyang and Farato respectively.
According to him, the ongoing Construction Roads Nationwide Design and Build Lot 5, 8, and 9 in the West Coast Region (WCR) respectively will provide access and connectivity to communities.
However, he hopes the projects will be completed on time, with some set to be completed before its scheduled time.
He thanked the NRA for supervising and guiding the contractors to build quality and good roads for the country
Meanwhile, the inspection tour will continue on Sunday, 11th February, where the delegation is expected to visit the Bertil Harding Highway, the 50km Urban Roads, and Banjul Road Project.
