The National Roads Authority’s (NRA) selected drivers who were chosen to participate in the transportation of guests in the recently concluded OIC Summit have thanked and appreciated their management for endorsing their participation in the second world’s largest Assembly.
Eight out of the NRA-qualified drivers were selected to join more than 200 drivers across different government departments who drove diplomats and delegates at the Islamic Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation
Speaking during the brief meeting with the drivers, Mr Sulayman Sumareh Janneh, Deputy Managing Director, NRA, expressed satisfaction and happiness to the drivers for representing the authority very well at the just-concluded summit.
According to him, the NRA will also adopt the same methods used during the training of the selected drivers for the OIC Summit, adding that because driving is a noble profession, drivers have very fundamental roles to play especially when driving dignitaries.
He went on behalf of the NRA management and thanked the drivers for representing the authority with distinction at the OIC Summit.
Tombong Colley, NRA Transport Superintendent, hailed the NRA-selected drivers for passing the orientation and training and successfully participating in the Summit.
“Being a driver, the most important element in the profession is respect. A driver must respect his or her boss at all costs, no matter how small or big the person is,” he told his drivers.
Mr Colley urged the drivers to always apply the knowledge gained at the OIC and share it with their fellow drivers.
Speaking on behalf of the chosen drivers, Bubacarr Cessay and Baboucarr Mendy both thanked the NRA management through their bosses (Transport Superintendent and Chief Driver) for selecting them to represent NRA at the Summit.
Mr Ceesay added, that despite undergoing very rigorous training before the summit, all the NRA drivers passed the tests and drove diplomats during the summit, adding that participating in the summit was very important for them as they have acquired new knowledge and ways of driving during their training.
Mr Mendy and the team promised to share the knowledge acquired from the Summit with their fellow drivers who were not fortunate enough to be a part of the summit.
