As part of their ongoing routine inspection tour of all its ongoing project sites, the National Roads Authority (NRA), accompanying the Ministry of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure (MOTWI) on Wednesday visited the Kiang West Road project and the Foni Lot 4 Road Project in the Lower River Region (LRR) respectively.
The 87km Kiang West Road project is divided into two phases: Phase 1, which is 39km from Kiang Sankandi to Kiang Karantaba, and Phase 2, which is 48km from Kiang KenemaKiang Kemoto respectively.
The consultant of the project is CityScapes Associates, while the contractor is Gai Construction.
The contractor completed 27km sealing in Phase 1, remaining 12km, while 30km prime was already sealed in Phase 2, remaining 18km.
Phase 1 has achieved 75% progress overall, while Phase 2 completed 58% progress.
Meanwhile, the 20.7km Lot 4 Road Project in Foni is divided into three loops: Kalagi – Kamangka is 10.2km; Sagajorr – Darsilameh is 6kmKanfendaTintinbaa is 5km.
The 10.2km Kalagi-Kamangka competes at the subgrade level, while the contractor also completed the clearing and grubbing at the 6km Sangajor-Darsilameh Road
The contractor of the project is SOMAGEC, while the consultant is Gamecs.
Kenneth Johnson, Resident Engineer at the Kiang West Road Project, stated that despite their few challenges, they are still in line with the project timelines.
He thanked the NRA and the Ministry of Works for their support while promising to finish the project in time.
