The Gambian leader, Adama Barrow, thanked the National Roads Authority (NRA) for its commitments to the ongoing OIC road projects in the Greater Banjul and West Coast Region, respectively.
President Adama Barrow was speaking on Saturday after embarking on a daylong inspection tour of the OIC road projects in the Greater Banjul and West Coast Region.
The Gambian leader and his entourage started the tour with an inspection of the Bundung road project before proceeding to Sukuta, Brusubi, Wullinkama, Brufut and Bakoteh road projects, respectively.
The visits aimed to give the Gambian leader first-hand information, to access and see for himself what is happening on the ongoing projects and also to engage with people (the beneficiaries of the roads) to address their challenges during the construction works.
“I want to thank the National Roads Authority (NRA), contractors of the ongoing projects, and the Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure for their hard work and commitment to these road projects,” he said during an interview with journalists.
He also expressed satisfaction with the level of progress on the road projects, adding that part of the reasons for doing such a tour is not only to assess and see first-hand information but also to interact with beneficiaries.
According to him, the ongoing road projects are very dear to his heart, as it would be the first time for the Gambia to have such roads.
The Gambian leader also expressed hope of completing the ongoing OIC road projects soon and inaugurating them.
“I am very hopeful of completing the ongoing road projects, such as the roads, streetlights, and drainage, and inaugurate them. These are very important roads because they are not ordinary roads, and it would be the first time that the Gambia will be enjoying these types of roads.”
