The Gambian leader, President Adama Barrow, accompanied by some senior government officials including the National Roads Authority (NRA) on Saturday 27th April 2024 inspected some of the ongoing OIC roads as well as fully-funded government road projects at both Kanifing Municipality and West Coast Region respectively.
President Barrow and the delegation visited eleven (11) ongoing road construction project sites as follows: -.
P1 – starts from GPPC – New Jeshwang (GACEM Junction) to Jokor Junction is 2.56km. The road is contracted to SSTP, CSE, and Al Fahd JV, and the Consultants are Pace and Gamecs.
P15 – the Bundung Highway road project. The 2.58km is also contracted to SSTP, CSE JV, and Al Fahd, and the Consultant is Pace and Gamecs.
P5 – Sukuta – Latrikunda Sabiji road project. The 3.36km project is contracted to SSTP, CSE, and Al Fahd JV, and the Consultant is Pace and Gamecs.
P8 – Bijilo (Bertil Harding) – Sukuta Nemasu Latrikunda. The 6.85km road is contracted by Pavi Ford, Gambisara Enterprise and Huta JV respectively and the consultants are Pace and Gamecs.
P6 – Kololi Tavern – Bijilo – Brufut road project. The 8.60km road is contracted to Pavi Ford, Gambisara Enterprise and Huta JV respectively and the consultant is Pace and Gamecs.
P9 – Sukuta – Wullingkama-Brufut Ghana Town road project. The 8.35km road is contracted by Pavi Ford, Gambisara Enterprise and Huta JV respectively and the consultants are Pace and Gamecs.
Lot 5 Road Project in Salagi – Mariama Kunda and Yuna. This project is contracted to Axiome Group. The 22km road project is divided into three sections, as follows: –
Section 1- is the road project from Old Yundum- Tawto and Jabang
Section 2- Jambur – Banyaka- Kukunjang Mariama and Tujereng
Section 3- Mariama Kunda -Yuna – Jambur – Jalambang and Brikama.
Lot 6 Road Project – Farato-Bojang Kunda to Lamin. The 10km road starts from Farato-Bojang Kunda- Bafuloto- Makumbaya – Lamin. The project is contracted to Bologel Construction Company.
Lot 8 – Gunjur Seaside Road Project. The 4.5km concrete road is contracted to Green Vision International and NRA is the consultant.
Lot 9 – Sanyang (Hawba) Seaside Road Project. The 4.5km concrete road is contracted to Zen Construction and NRA is the consultant.
The OIC Bertil Harding Road Project – The 22km Road Project is Contracted to Arezki S.A., and the Consultant is Saudi Consult.
“We are organizing the OIC Summit in Banjul on Saturday, 4th May 2024, and most of the project’s resources were mobilized through the organization of the OIC. This is why I decided to come and see for myself how we are progressing on the projects,” said President Barrow in an interview.
The Gambian leader further expressed delight at the progress of the ongoing projects, adding that the projects are going to continue even after the summit, as there is still work to do on them.
“Overall, I am impressed with the level of work as the projects are strategic roads. These roads, when completed, will change the entire road network as well as impact positively on the traffic.”
According to him, these are social projects, while expressing the belief that the roads would make a big impact as far as the lives of the people are concerned.
