As part of the ongoing road safety awareness sensitisation, which started last year, and following the completion of the communities and schools sensitisation,
the campaign has now moved to the training of the first responders when an accident occurs.
As part of the training component, we organised a two-day-long training session with the Gambia Police Force (GPF) and the Gambia Fire and Rescue Services (GFRS) Officers on Basic First Aid and Fire Awareness on Tuesday, 6th May 2025.
The training, which brought together 15 participants from each institution in different departments, was held at the Medical and Dental Council Conference Center (near Nana) in Bakau.
Both the Gambia Police Force and the Gambia Fire and Rescue Services Officers were trained on traffic enforcement, crash investigation, and First Aid, respectively.
The key resource persons during the training were Mr Lamin Gassama of the Gambia Red Cross Society and Dr. Momodou Gassama of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and others.
