Press Release — Closure of the Kotu Bridge (BB Hotel Bridge)

National Roads Authority > Press Release — Closure of the Kotu Bridge (BB Hotel Bridge)

The National Roads Authority (NRA) wishes to inform the general public that the
Kotu Bridge (BB Bridge) has been closed to vehicles for safety reasons due to the
deteriorating condition of the bridge structure. This decision has been made in
consultation with the Gambia Tourism Board, the police, and other key stakeholders to
ensure the safety of all the users of the bridge — vehicular as well as pedestrians.

The NRA is aware of the disruptions this is causing to business and residents in the
area, and we apologise for the inconvenience caused. To minimise the impact of the
closure, the NRA, in collaboration with key stakeholders is actively working on the
construction of an alternative access road from the Fajara Hotel end.

We assure the public that we are working hard to complete the alternative route to
enable access to the hotels and other areas served by the Kotu (BB) Bridge. In the
meantime, plans are ongoing for the construction of the replacement bridge.

The NRA appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as we work towards a
lasting solution for everyone.
