NRA accompanies Works Minister to inspect EPC Lot 1 roads project in URR.
As part of their ongoing routine road inspection tour across the country, the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, led by the honourable Minister Mister Ebrima Sillah, was accompanied by the National Roads Authority (NRA) through its Deputy Managing Director, Mr Sulayman Sumareh Janneh and his technical team. The high-level entourage, on Sunday, 15th June 2025, continued their tour of the EPC Lot 1 roads project in the Upper River Region (URR).
This project is contracted to Gai Construction, and CityScape Associates is the Consultant. It comprises several roads in the URR with a total length of 69km.
The overall progress of the Lot 1 road project is 30%
The contractor is currently working on six (6) out of fifteen (15) roads. The roads being constructed are as follows;-
1. Basse Manneh Kunda – Demba Kunda – Gambisara Road (12.18km)
The contractor completed the earthworks, subbase and base except for access junctions. All 18 culverts were completed, but we haven’t started the surface treatment yet.
54% of the concrete road pavement is completed, but the bituminous surface dressing is yet to be started. The overall progress so far is 62%.
2. Basse – Dampha Kunda – Tambasasang Road (9.20km).
The contractor completed 70% of the earthworks, 60% of the subbase, 30% of the base and 25% of the culverts work completed, respectively. Both the surface treatment and concrete road pavement are yet to start. The overall progress so far is 33%
3. Chamoi – Dampha Kunda Road (2.66km)
The contractor completed 95% of the earthworks and 100% completions of the subbase and culverts, while the base is 64%. The bituminous surface treatment is yet to start. The overall progress so far is 43%
4. Angalfuta Road – Reinforced Concrete Pavement (1.75km)
The contractor completed 95% of both the earthworks, subbase, and concrete road pavement. The overall progress is 94%.
5. Manneh Kunda Road – Reinforced Concrete Pavement (1.68km)
The contractor completed 52% of the earthworks, 50% of the subbase, and 47% of the concrete road pavement. The overall progress is 47%.
6. Brikamaba – Boiram – Njoben Road (6.32km)
The contractor completed 40% of the earthworks but has not yet started the subbase, base, and surface treatment. The overall progress is 16%.
7.0 Sutukoba – Chamoi Bunda Road, (27km)
The contractor completed 25% of the site clearing and roadbed preparation. 20% of the subgrade layer is completed. The overall progress is 14%.
