President Barrow Launches 36.1km of Road Projects in West Coast Region
As part of the ongoing Connect Gambia Roads Infrastructure tour, President Adama Barrow on Wednesday, 19 August 2026, launched a combined 36.1 kilometres of road projects across six locations in the West Coast Region (WCR).
The projects aim to improve connectivity, facilitate movement, open up communities, and support economic activities across the region.
The six road projects include:
1. Brikama–Jidda Baba Njie–Toubakuta Road – 6.2km
2. Brikama Newtown Road–Kitty Junction – 2.4km
3. Lamin Waa Juwara–Box Ba Road–Jah Oil, Brikama – 1.0km
4. Lamin CDC–Kubariko–Makumbaya–Galoya–Kubuneh–Kunkujang Jataya–Mandinaring Road – 15km
5. Hamat Bah Junction–OIC Road – 1.3km
6. Jabang–Yuna–Madiana–Tanji Road – 10.2km
The projects form part of the government’s broader Connect Gambia Infrastructure Initiative, which seeks to expand and improve the country’s road network and strengthen connectivity between communities and economic centres.
