The National Roads Authority (NRA) has acquired a new mechanical vacuum-type road sweeper, which aims to keep the Bertil Harding Highway clean on completion.
NRA has acquired a new mechanical vacuum-type road sweeper. The equipment will keep Bertil Highway clean on completion.
The highway is considered an important infrastructure asset that will need to be maintained once works are completed. The sweeper will also complement the authority’s efforts to maintain cleanliness on our road network, particularly our strategic road network.
The acquisition of the road sweeper is indeed timely as its launch coincided with the massive cleaning exercise that NRA embarked on ahead of the much-awaited OIC Summit in Banjul.
The cleaning campaign started on Tuesday, 30th April, when the sweeper started operations on Bertil Harding Highway.
The launch has seen the new truck cleaning the road from inside the airport through to Bertil Harding Highway.
The cleaning exercise was administered and graced by the Managing Director of the National Roads Authority, Arezki S.A. Project Manager and representatives from the Turkish company, Albayrak, who are the supplier of the sweeper.
The latter are providing training and support to NRA staff on the operations and maintenance of the mechanical sweeper.
The NRA urges the public to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of our roads, as this is a collective national effort and responsibility of all Gambians.
