Minster Sillah appreciates level of work progress in Lot 4
Minister of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure Hon. Ebrima Sillah said he is extremely happy with the progress of the work in the Lot 4 Foni road in the West Coast Region, noting that this is a very important road for the people of Foni, who have been appealing for this since the time of the first republic
According to him, they are hoping to complete the road by the end of the year for the people of Foni to ease their transportation movements.
Modou Dumbaya, Project Manager for SOMAGEC Construction, said this is a double surface dressing road project
He said the road is at the base course and waiting for the sealing, adding that the overall progress is 70%
Buya Touray, Alkalo of Darsilameh, said this is a very important project for them, noting that they have been yearning for such development for a long time.
According to him, they used to face a lot of difficulties in accessing hospitals and the market
Kaddy Camara, Darsilameh, said this is a very important road for them, especially women, adding that they faced a lot of difficulties in having easy access to their farms, hospitals, and markets.
She went on behalf of the women of Darsilameh to thank the Gambia government through the NRA for such a wonderful project.
Lot 4 Foni Road Project
The 22.53km road project is divided into four sections as follows: –
1. Kalagi – Kamangka – Bondali is 10.2km;
2. Jorem Nema Kunda – Jorem Bunda Kunda is 1.45km;
3. Sangajorr _Dasilami is 5.78km; and
4. Kamfenda – Tintinbaa is 5.1km respectively.
The project is contracted to SOMAGEC, and the Consultant is Gamecs.
The Contractor completed the entire earthworks and pavement in road sections 1 and 2 and is now completing the base in road section 3.
Works have also started in section 4 Kamfenda – Tintinbaa road, which is on the subbase.
They are also on the civil work (concrete structures)
Overall progress is approximately 70%.
