NRA, partners embark on cleaning exercise on Bertil Harding (OIC) Highway
As part of its mission, efforts and commitment to ensuring the Cleanliness and safety of our national roads, the National Roads Authority (NRA), together with partners, on Saturday, 1st November 2025, again embarked on a massive cleaning exercise on the Bertil Harding Highway.
This is part of the serial cleaning exercises conducted by the NRA since the construction of Phase I of the Bertil Harding Highway.
The cleaning exercise was carried out in collaboration with partners, including Professional Cleaning Services (PCS), the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), the Gambia Prisons Service (GPS), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG), and BAJAM Construction Company, among others.
Speaking in an interview after the exercise, Sulayman Sumareh Janneh, Acting Managing Director, NRA, stated that the overall turnout of the exercise was the result of efforts from the National Roads Authority, the Ministry of Works, the security force, PCS Cleaning and Learning Service, Bajam Construction Company, amongst others.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank the partners for collaborating to make such a tremendous impact.”
According to him, all the NRA partners have shown their dedication to duty and shown their respect for their country and their patriotism as well.
“It was a collective effort. We want to encourage the general public to start taking up these exercises regularly and understand that the cleanliness of a country does not belong to one institution alone,” said the NRA boss.
The continuous cleaning exercise by NRA aims to explore more attractions along the newly constructed three-lane highway.
While the NRA aims to continue doing this exercise, we urged the general public to desist from dumping waste on the roads, especially around roundabouts and drainage.
The NRA urges the public to assist in maintaining the cleanliness of our roadway environment, as this is a collective national effort and responsibility of all Gambians.
