NRA Technical Team Embarks on Inspection Tour of World Bank-Funded GIRAV Feeder Roads Project
A technical team from the National Roads Authority (NRA) has commenced a three-day nationwide inspection tour of ongoing road works under the World Bank-funded Gambia Inclusive and Resilient Agricultural Value Chain Development (GIRAV) Project.
The inspection, which began on Thursday, 30 July 2026, is aimed at assessing construction progress, monitoring quality standards, and ensuring timely implementation of the project. The team, led by the Authority’s Senior Feeder Roads Manager and supported by senior engineers under the guidance of the Managing Director, will visit project sites across the country.
On the first day, the team will inspect the Gunjur–Berending, Somita–Jakoi Paima, Tampoto–Jakoi, Sibirik, Bulajorr–Katacor, Nyantempo–Bulunt, Bondali–Burambang–Bambara, and Bulangant–Wassadou road projects.
The inspection will continue on Friday, 31 July 2026, with visits to the Main Road Sare Jamma–Minna, Laboratory Works in Mansa Konko, Sinchu Alhagie–Pateh Sam, Minteh Kunda–Njawara–Kerr Omar, and Kuntaya road projects.
The feeder roads are being constructed to Bituminous Surface Treatment (SBST) all-weather standards to improve year-round accessibility for rural communities.
Upon completion, the project is expected to enhance connectivity, facilitate the movement of people, goods and agricultural produce, strengthen local trade, and improve livelihoods in beneficiary communities.
