President Adama Barrow on Thursday, 13 August 2026, inaugurated the completed 6km Kusun–Garawol Road and launched a new 24km Garawol Road Project in the Upper River Region (URR), as part of his ongoing nationwide tour.

The 6km road, executed by ETIC Construction Company under the supervision of the National Roads Authority (NRA), is expected to improve connectivity and ease the movement of people and goods for communities including Baraji Kunda, Kebbeh Kunda, Kanjabina, Sami Kuta and surrounding settlements.

The newly launched 24km project extends the Garawol road initiative to a total of 30km and is aimed at further strengthening connectivity and access for communities in the area.

During the tour, President Barrow also inspected the 12.18km Manneh Kunda–Demba Kunda–Numuyel Road under the 74.5km Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Lot 1 Roads Project in URR.

Implemented by GAI Construction under the supervision of Cityscape Associates, the Lot 1 project has recorded 70% overall physical progress. The Manneh Kunda–Demba Kunda–Numuyel section has reached 95% completion, with surface dressing completed.

Progress is also being recorded on other sections, including the Basse–Dempha Kunda–Tambasansang Road, where concrete pavement works are 70% complete, and the 27km Sutukoba–Chamoi Bunda Road, which stands at 43%, with earthworks nearing completion and drainage works ongoing.

Construction is also progressing on the Santusu and Basse–Manneh Kunda roads, while the relocation of NAWEC water pipelines and GAMTEL cables within Basse Township continues to facilitate uninterrupted construction.
