President Adama Barrow on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, inaugurated the newly constructed 4.5-kilometre EPC Lot 9 Sanyang Seaside Road Project in the West Coast Region.

Funded by the Government of The Gambia and constructed by Zen Construction Ltd under the supervision of the National Roads Authority (NRA), the project is designed to improve connectivity, mobility and access to the Sanyang coastal area.

The newly constructed road features a concrete-paved carriageway, drainage infrastructure on both sides and streetlighting, providing a safer and more reliable link between the Brusubi–Kartong Highway and Sanyang seaside.

The road is expected to improve access to the Tourism Development Area, facilitate the movement of residents, tourists and businesses, and support economic activities in the area.

It will also ease access to the seaside during the rainy season, while improving road safety and mobility for motorists and pedestrians.

The Sanyang Seaside Road forms part of the Government’s broader road infrastructure development programme aimed at expanding and upgrading the national road network and strengthening connectivity to key social and economic destinations across the country.
