NRA Assesses Stormwater Conditions in Sukuta
In response to mounting community concerns over persistent stormwater accumulation along major roadways, the National Roads Authority (NRA) on Tuesday, 14th October 2025, conducted a technical inspection of key stormwater-prone areas in Sukuta. The exercise was led by Senior and Principal Engineer Mr. Omar Saidykhan, acting under the directives of the Acting Managing Director, and carried out in the company of the National Assembly Member for Sanimentereng Constituency, Hon. Fatou Cham.
The purpose of the inspection was to evaluate existing drainage conditions and identify appropriate, long-term solutions to mitigate the impact of stormwater on the community and adjoining roads.
It may be recalled that in August 2025, under the instruction of the Acting Managing Director, the NRA undertook a temporary intervention at the major Sukuta stormwater intersection leading to the mosque and cemetery. This quick response during the peak of the rainy season helped to restore traffic flow and make the route motorable for residents and commuters.
Building on this effort, the Authority is now formulating a permanent engineering solution to sustainably address the stormwater challenges in the Sukuta area and improve overall road safety and accessibility.
