NRA bids Farewell to MD Ousman Sanyang
The National Roads Authority (NRA) on Monday, 30th June 2025, bade farewell to its Managing Director, Mr Ousman Sanyang, whose two-year contract term has ended.
In July 2023, Mr. Ousman Sanyang was appointed Managing Director of the National Roads Authority (NRA) on a two-year contract by President Adama Barrow.
In his farewell address, Ebrima Njie, Chairman of the NRA Board of Directors, congratulated and thanked the outgoing MD for the wonderful work he has been doing for the NRA during his two-year tenure, while also congratulating the new acting Managing Director, Mr Sulayman Sumareh Janneh.
He assured the outgoing MD that the NRA team, under the leadership of Sulayman Sumareh Janneh, will continue to implement the projects that have started during his leadership.
Representing the Minister of Works, Matarr Ceesay, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure, went on behalf of their ministry to thank MD Sanyang profoundly for his selfless, distinguished, highly valued and professional services rendered to the Gambia during his tenure as Managing Director of NRA.
“Your attention to detail and proven track record are ample testimony to your professional integrity that you jealously guarded throughout,” he told MD Sanyang.
According to the Minister, he expressed happiness to know and work with MD Sanyang while wishing him good luck in his future assignments.
Outgoing Managing Director Ousman Sanyang stated that his handing-over report supports a seamless leadership transition and ensures continuity and effective implementation of reforms critical to the Authority’s mandate.
“The outline initiatives are critical to fortify and enforce the NRA’s institutional identity and operational performance. I strongly urge the Board and incoming leadership to uphold these priorities and protect the momentum of change that I started in the NRA,” he noted.
Sulayman Sumareh Janneh, in coming acting Managing Director of the National Roads Authority (NRA), reiterated his appreciation of the outgoing MD leadership and excellent management qualities that he’s passing down, adding that he and his senior managers have the responsibility to uphold the standards that MD Sanyang is leaving with them
“The handing-over notes serve as a guide to improve the current problems of the institution. The good things we need to continue to implement and work on, and improve on things that are holding us back,” he said.
To tackle all these, according to him, needs a collective effort and cannot be done by an individual, adding that all hands need to be on deck.
The farewell ceremony was also witnessed by a presentation of gifts from both the NRA and the Ministry of Transport, Works, and Infrastructure to the outgoing Managing Director Ousman Sanyang.
Before the official handing-over ceremony, the outgoing MD held his final general meeting with the staff of the NRA.
