NRA MD Inspects Garawol–Kusum Road Project
Sulayman Sumareh Janneh, Managing Director of the National Roads Authority (NRA), accompanied by a technical team, on Tuesday 10th February 2026, conducted an inspection tour of the ongoing 6‑kilometre Garawol–Kusum road project in the Upper River Region (URR).
The project, which is being constructed by Etic Construction Company under the supervision of the NRA, is expected to significantly enhance connectivity for several communities, including Baraji Kunda, Kebbeh Kunda, Kanjabina, Sami Kuta and neighbouring settlements.
According to project engineers, the road’s design features comprehensive structural components such as side drains and erosion‑control mechanisms. The 6km stretch forms part of a larger 30km corridor already surveyed and earmarked for future construction.
Work has progressed steadily, with clearing, dumping, and subgrade preparation now completed. The contractor is now about to start processing the subbase course.
Following the inspection, NRA Managing Director Sulayman Sumareh Janneh underscored the importance of the project, noting its potential to improve mobility and economic activity not only in Garawol and Kusum but across the wider Upper River Region.
He commended the contractor for the pace and quality of work delivered so far, expressing optimism that the project will be completed ahead of schedule.
