President Barrow visits Lamin-Babylon-Makumbaya road project
As part of his “Meet with the People’s Tour,” the Gambian leader, President Adama Barrow, on Saturday, 29th November 2025. visited the ongoing Lamin – Babylon – Makumbaya 6km road project in the West Coast Region (WCR).
This road is part of the ongoing government-funded Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Lot 5 roads project in the Greater Banjul Area.
The Lot 5 EPC road project, which is a fully funded government project, is 27.8km long and divided into seven sections in the Greater Banjul Area.
Section 1: Farato Bojang Kunda – Bafuloto (4km);
Section 2: Wellingara Kunkujang Keitaya (4.2km};
Section 3: Wellingara – Abuko Abattoire (4km);
Section 4: Lamin – Babylon – Makumbaya (6km); and
Section 5: Tabokoto Abuko – Banjulinding (3.7km).
Addendum 1: Makumbaya (2.7km)
Addendum 2: Old Yundum (3.2km)
The contractor is now working on the base course, surfacing and drainage works in section 4 of the Lamin- Babylon-Makumbaya road. The current work progress for section 4 is 81%.
Meanwhile, the following other road sections have also made progress.
Section 2, 58%
Section 3, 48%
Section 5, 72%
Addendum 1, 96%
Addendum 2, 49%.
The overall progress for the Lot 5 EPC road project is 71. 2%.
The 27.8km project is contracted to Bologel Limited, a Gambian construction company, while the National Roads Authority (NRA) is overseeing the supervision of the works.
The project is asphalt roads with a two-lane carriageway, paved shoulders, sidewalks, parking spaces, streetlights and drainage facilities.
