President Barrow visits ongoing Kalagi – Bondali road project
As part of the ongoing “Meet with the People’s Tour”, President Adama Barrow, on Saturday 22nd November 2025, visited the ongoing 10.2km Kalagi to Bondali road project in the West Coast Region (WCR).
This project is part of the ongoing Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Lot 4 road project in the West Coast Region (WCR).
The project, which is fully funded by the government, consists of the construction of twelve (4) roads, approximately 20.7km in total length, and all the roads are currently on base level.
The Contractor for this project is SOMAGEC, while GAMECS is the Consultant
1. Kalagi to Bondali road 10.2km
After achieving 98% completion on the earthworks, and following the completion of the reinforced concrete pavement (Irish crossing), drainage structures (culverts), and erosion control (Irish crossings and culverts), respectively, the contractor has already sealed 6km out of 10km. The sealing work is currently ongoing.
2. Jorem Nema Kunda – Jorem Bunda Kunda 1.45km.
The contractor has already completed the priming work and has now achieved 40% of the sealing work.
The contractor SOMAGEC has also completed the reinforced concrete pavement (Irish crossing), drainage structures (culverts) and erosion control (Irish crossings and culverts) respectively.
3. Sangajorr – Darsilami road 5.78km
The contractor has already completed the earthworks and is now about to concentrate on the priming and sealing works
They have also completed the reinforced concrete pavements (Irish crossings), drainage structure (culverts), and erosion control (Irish crossings and culverts).
4. Kamfenda – Mandina road 5.10km
The contractor has entirely completed the reinforced concrete pavement (Irish crossing), drainage structures (culverts) and erosion control (Irish crossings and culverts) respectively. They have also achieved 98% of the earthworks.
Overall work progress is 78%.
Giboro-Sohm road 13km
The contractor has now completed the clearing and grubbing works.
