President Barrow Launches 34.9km GIRAV Roads Project in Kombo South, Foni
President Adama Barrow on Thursday, 2 April 2026, laid the foundation stone for a 34.9-kilometre GIRAV feeder roads project in Kombo South and Foni, as part of the government’s ongoing nationwide infrastructure drive.
The project, funded by the World Bank under the GIRAV programme, aims to improve connectivity between rural communities and boost agricultural productivity by easing access to markets for farmers.
The road construction falls under Lot 4 and has been awarded to contractor Solo Dabo, with consultancy services provided by Pace and Ceeteq Joint Venture.
Spanning various communities across the West Coast Region, the 34.9km road network comprises several key links, including Lamin Daranka (John Pickering School) to the Gardens and Rice Fields (1.5km), Gunjur to Berending (6.1km), Kanpanti/Kapa to Ballen (4.3km), Kasamai to Bajagarr (6km), Sibanor to Gifanga (4.7km), Bulajorr to Katacorr (6.3km), Tampoto to Jakoi Sibrik (9km), and Somita/Batendin to Jakoi Paima.
Officials say the project is expected to significantly enhance mobility, support local trade, and improve livelihoods across Kombo South and Foni districts.
