President Barrow inspects ongoing road projects
President Adama Barrow on Tuesday conducted an inspection tour of several ongoing road development projects within the Greater Banjul Area as part of his routine assessment of national infrastructure works.
The visit enabled the President to personally assess the level of progress achieved, while also gaining firsthand information on the challenges affecting the implementation of the projects.
Among the projects visited were the Kotu (BB Hotel) Bridge, the Bertil Harding Highway Phase 3 Project, the OIC 50km Urban Roads Project in Safideen, Bundung Borehole, Latrikunda, Sukuta and Nema Kunku, as well as EPC Lot 5 roads covering Tabokoto, Abuko, Wellingara, Banjulinding and Old Yundum.
President Barrow also toured EPC Lot 6 roads from Youna to Jambur, Janbanjelly, Banyaka, Jabang and Brikama, the EPC Lot 4 Giboro–Sohm Road Project, and EPC Lot 7 Section A in Kasa Kunda.
Speaking after the inspections, President Barrow expressed satisfaction with the progress registered on the projects, noting that many of the roads are now at the final stages of completion.
“There has been a lot of progress on the ongoing road projects, with almost all of them now at the finishing stage,” the President said.
He commended the contractors, particularly Bologel, for what he described as their tremendous work and commitment to delivering quality infrastructure.
“We have to open up this country. Communication is very important, especially in road infrastructure. We believe that without roads, there can be no development,” President Barrow stated.
The Gambian leader further expressed optimism that some of the projects would be inaugurated before the end of the year.
