NRA Technical Team Inspects Progress on Kiang Kabada Road Project
The National Roads Authority (NRA) technical team on Friday, 3rd July 2026, inspected the ongoing Kiang Kabada Road Project in the Lower River Region as part of its nationwide tour to monitor the progress of road infrastructure projects.
The project forms part of the EPC Lot 3 component of the national roads programme and has achieved an overall physical progress of 93 percent. Fully funded by the Government of The Gambia, the project is being executed by Longjing Construction Company under the supervision of GAMECS Consulting Engineers.
The Kiang Kabada Road Project comprises 12 road links with a combined length of approximately 90 kilometres, forming a vital section of the Kabada Loop that will improve connectivity between rural communities and the Trans-Gambia Highway.
During the inspection, the team observed that all road sections have been fully sealed. The remaining activities include the installation of road furniture, traffic signs, and road markings ahead of the project’s completion.
Mass Faye, Resident Engineer for the supervising consultant, GAMECS Consulting Engineers, said the contractor completed the sealing works on the project on Thursday night, leaving only the installation of road furniture, traffic signs, and pavement markings before completion.
Speaking on the project’s preparedness for the rainy season, Faye noted that the road has not experienced flooding issues since last year. He added that, as a precautionary measure, a response team remains stationed in Kolior to promptly address any flooding incidents should they arise.
Meanwhile, Mr. Li Wenfeng, Project Manager for the contractor, Longjian Roads and Bridges, said the company is mobilising the required road signs and other road furniture. He expressed optimism that the materials will arrive by the end of this month, paving the way for the completion of the remaining works.
The NRA reaffirmed its commitment to closely supervising the project to ensure it meets the required quality standards and is delivered on schedule, providing safer and more reliable transport infrastructure for communities in the Lower River Region.
