Barrow Lays Foundation Stone for Over 100km Road Project in CRR
President Adama Barrow has laid the foundation stone for a 111.95-kilometre road project in the Central River Region (CRR) as part of the government’s ongoing Connect Gambia Infrastructure Projects initiative aimed at expanding road connectivity in provincial communities.
The initiative forms part of Phase One of the Connect Gambia Infrastructure Projects, a nationwide government programme designed to improve connectivity, facilitate access to essential services, and promote inclusive economic growth across The Gambia.
The latest development follows the launch of an earlier 49.2-kilometre road project in the Niani area. With the commencement of an additional 62.75 kilometres of roads in the Niamina and Fulladou areas, the total road network launched under the programme in CRR now stands at 111.95 kilometres.
The newly launched 62.75-kilometre road network will cover several key routes across Niamina and Fulladou. Under Lot 2, the project includes the 26-kilometre Bansang–Nibrass road and the 8-kilometre Yoro Berry Kunda–Galleh Manda–Sololo Mandinka–Fula Kunda–Ngayene–Jamu–Madina route.
Under Lot 1, works will include the 8.25-kilometre Bati Mahmud Fana–Bati Njol–Bantanto–Ngawar–Jookul–Ker Bamba–SBTR road, as well as the 20.5-kilometre Choya–Sare Bakary–Pinai–Katamina–Malikunda–Dankunku–Kung–Dankunku–Missera–Jessadi–Si Kunda–Makema–Touba Mbakeh–Wellingara corridor.
The road projects are expected to significantly improve mobility, strengthen regional connectivity, and enhance economic opportunities for communities across the Central River Region.
